Heaven Sent Children, Inc. offers counseling services
by a Master's Level Social Worker. Counseling services are very reasonably
priced on a sliding scale fee based on family income. We can provide counseling
to individuals, families, couples and children.
Who can benefit from counseling?
You may sit down with our Counselor for
just one session, or perhaps six or eight sessions. Our Counselor will
help you identify what the area of concern is for yourself or your family,
and then work collaboratively to address these concerns. We believe that individuals and families hold the keys to their own success, and we will help you build upon these strengths as we work toward finding solutions. Our Social Work
Counselor will help you apply tools you already possess to new
situations, or help you develop new tools as you
approach new situations in life.
What would I talk to a Counselor about?
Individuals sometimes discover that they
could benefit from counseling when
they find themselves in an unfamiliar territory.
Some examples might be:

I always thought I would give birth to
a child, but now it does not seem likely. I have a lot of emotions
surrounding this and am unsure what the best way forward is for us.

I could not wait to bring home my
little angel, but now that he is home, it is not what I thought it would be.
My negative emotions surprise me and I wonder why I am feeling this way when
I wanted this child so much.

My twelve-year old has begun asking a
lot of questions about why she was adopted and where her birth family might
be. I am not sure what to tell her and wonder if she might like to talk to a
third party about it.

My sixteen-year old has begun staying
out past curfew and his grades are dropping. I don't want to overreact, but
I don't want to ignore the problem either. Perhaps he would talk to someone
else about what is going on.

Life was going smoothly until my
daughter turned two. Now she is not listening and is throwing tantrums. The
parenting techniques that were working are not working any longer. Now what?

Our family always meshed well until our
third child joined us. Now everyone seems out of whack and our family cannot
seem to get back on track.
