At Heaven Sent
Children, we understand and take very seriously the issues birth
parents must cope with when making decisions about the future of
their child. Counseling is available, as well as help in
finding the right adoptive family. Our birth parents are
encouraged to make decisions that are most appropriate to their
situation, with the best interest of their child placed above all
considerations.
Heaven Sent Children can provide assistance to birth parents
with future planning, employment readiness, housing referrals, clothing
assistance, and other basic items needed for their families.
All services provided to birth parents and their families are free of
charge.

I want to create an adoption plan
for my child, now what?
If you decide to place your child for adoption, your Social Worker will work with you every step of the
way. You are in control of the process.
-
With your Social Worker, you can
choose what you are looking for in a family for your child. You can view
family profiles, and can even meet the family if you want. Or, you can
allow our agency to choose the family based upon the qualities important
to you.

-
You can choose how open you want
the adoption to be. This can be getting pictures and updates through the
agency, or perhaps having ongoing contact with the adoptive family. Or,
you may choose to have no contact. You can make this decision with your
Social Worker's help based on what you feel is best for you and your
child.
-
Your Social Worker will continue to
counsel you throughout the remainder of your pregnancy and the birth,
helping you anticipate and work through many of the emotions and
feelings you may have.
-
Your Social Worker will be with you
through the legal proceedings required to allow your child to be placed
for adoption.
What about birth fathers?
We understand that the circumstances
between you and the father of your child may be complicated and every
situation is unique. We recognize that some birth mothers are in an ongoing
relationship with the birthfather, some are no longer in contact, and even
others have been harmed by the father of this child. We will approach your
particular situation with the respect and empathy it deserves.
We can provide counseling to
birthfathers as they also struggle with the decision to place a child for
adoption. We can meet with birthfathers, answer their questions, and involve
them in the adoption process as much as they desire. We believe it is
important to work with birthfathers when creating an adoption plan so that
significant medical and social history is passed on to your child.
